TRYOUTS for SPRING 2012
Evaluations for the Spring, 2012 season for players 8-12 years of age were held in October, 2011. IF YOU ATTENDED THESE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ ANY FURTHER.
However, if you were unable to attend the try-outs held last October a second evaluation will be held for PLAYERS WHO HAVE NOT ALREADY BEEN EVALUATED.
This second evaluation will be held Saturday, January 28, 20011 at the Newton North High School SOA gymnasium.
These evaluations help the league place players in the appropriate levels, and make the teams as fair as possible, so it is important your child attend if he or she would like to play next season!
Who : All players 8 - 12 years old as of April 30, 2012, and 7 year-olds who are in 2nd grade.
If you played in the NWLL Majors in Spring, 2011, you do NOT have to attend!
When : Saturday Evening, January 28, 2011
Where : Newton North High School SOA Gymnasium
Bring : Glove, sneakers, hat (if you bring a drink please only bring water).
NOTE: Age is player's age as of April 30, 2012
TIMES:
8yr olds and 7 yr olds who are in second grade -- 6:45PM
9yr olds -- 7:15PM
10yr olds -- 7:45PM
11 and 12 yr olds -- 8:15PM
Pre-registration is not necessary.

VOLUNTEERS
Anybody interested in volunteering in any capacity with the league must fill out the volunteer form and send it, along with a photocopy of a state-issued photo id (e.g., drivers license), to:

Composite Bat Ban
Little League International has placed a moratorium on the use of composite bats in the Little League (Majors) Division and all other baseball divisions of Little League, effective immediately. WHO WE ARE
Newton West Little League, an affiliate of Little League International, Inc. (www.littleleague.org) runs a co-ed, youth baseball program for children aged 4-12.
OVERVIEW
There are five levels ('Divisions') of play:
Tee-ball
Farm (coach pitch)
AA (kid-pitch)
AAA
Majors
Placement is based on age, grade, and ability.
Evaluations (or 'tryouts') are held in the Fall and, along with the previous year's coach's evaluation (if available), are used to aid in proper team placement.
ELIGIBILITY
If you live in the Burr, Franklin, or Williams school district you are eligible to play in Newton West. You do not have to attend one of those schools but you must reside in one of those districts.
